The Irish Mounted Games Team, sponsored by Devenish, were Silver medal winners at the World Team Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.
Five amazing young Irish riders took the world championships by storm on borrowed ponies and were just pipped to the post by the U.S. team. Superb riding skills and experience came to the fore to enable the Irish riders to challenge the American team, who were riding their own ponies. The final scores were:

The Irish riders were: Mark Devitt (Laois), Aidan Hanlon (Meath), Jake O’Connor (Kildare), Tony Whooely (Cork), Donelle O’Leary (Cork) and the reserve rider was Jessie Flood (Wexford). The team were trained by Jerome O’Connor, also from Kildare.
