Hi Peak Organic Feeds will be powered exclusively by renewable energy from December 2019.
For the next three years, the Sheffield-based firm, which is the UK and Ireland's largest 100% organic manufacturer of feeds, blends, minerals and speciality products, will source its energy from 100% Renewable Energy Guarantee of Origin (REGO) certified sources.
Hi Peak, part of the Devenish Group, made the move as part of a major sustainability programme to minimise its impact on the environment.
Rob Daykin, Ruminant Commercial Manager at Hi Peak said:
"As the UK and Ireland’s only 100% organic mill, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. We take our responsibility towards the environment seriously and are delighted to be moving towards REGO certified 100% renewable electricity supply. This is part of our long-term sustainability strategy through which we make steps to help improve our operations and reduce our carbon footprint on an ongoing basis."
Mark McGuire, Director of Procurement at Devenish said:
"Powering our operations at Hi Peak solely by renewable energy will significantly reduce our carbon footprint. Across the Devenish Group as a whole, we are committed to operating sustainably and this move forms an important step in our long term environmental and sustainability plans."
