Based in Belfast, we are a leading provider of animal nutrition solutions including starter feeds, premixes and innovative feed additives. Devenish has four manufacturing sites in the UK, from where they supply innovative nutritional solutions and technical expertise to producers through the farm, feed and food industry in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australasia and Latin America.

The Role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing engineering support to the production team working within a busy feed manufacturing environment. 

Key responsibilities and duties include:

  • Carry out all planned, preventative and corrective maintenance tasks in accordance with maintenance systems
  • Investigate, root cause analyses and resolve problems relating to machines and provide support for process and quality issues
  • Ensure all related documentation & record keeping for the shift is up to date
  • Provide comprehensive breakdown information and actions taken to support the planned maintenance system
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety guidelines and requirements
  • Take Health, Safety and Environmental ownership of themselves, others and activities within their areas of responsibility and raising all HSE concerns they become aware of, outside their areas of responsibility, with relevant managers
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable to the role

Essential criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a maintenance engineering role
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of pneumatic and electrical control systems
  • Good working knowledge of product transfer systems including elevators, drag-chain and auger feed systems
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent work ethic with the ability to show initiative, work on their own and as part of a team.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car.
  • Prepared to travel to various sites.
  • Right to work in the UK. 

Desirable criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications in mechanical engineering

  • Experience within a Manufacturing environment associated with animal feed / premixture production

  • Shift working hours

  • Mechanically biased

  • Forklift licence
