Sodium and calcium butyrate have different chemical properties and different release patterns.
Sodium butyrate is mostly released in the small intestine due to its solubility in water.
Calcium butyrate remains in the micro granulate for longer due to its solubility in fat. After UltraGuard’s matrix breaks down through digestion, most of the calcium butyrate is released along the large intestine.
By this specific combination of both calcium and sodium butyrate and the ideal ratio of coating, the butyric acid exerts its benefits along the entire gastrointestinal tract.
